EMSL Analytical Inc. Laboratory Analyst II (Asbestos) in Denver, Colorado
EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst II specializing in Asbestos analysis for its Denver, CO laboratory location. This position involves preparation and analysis of asbestos samples. Ideal candidate will have two to five years' experience in a commercial lab performing asbestos analysis. Responsibilities:Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy, PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy) and all ancillary quality control proceduresDetermination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos materialReceive environmental samples and log-in/data entry Chain of custodies into LIMS system.Record data in a specified mannerReview paperwork for incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctnessMake sure all samples are placed into proper storage for analysisGenerate analytical reports and enter data produced by analysts into the LIMS system for production of final reports to customerHandle inventory and record keepingAssist with customer service client questions via phone and email and in personClerical duties such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanningGeneral laboratory housekeeping including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, cleaning incubators, waste disposal Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science Minimum of two years experience with asbestos analysis using PLM and/or TEM is required Prior laboratory experience in commercial laboratory Ability to multi-task and adhere to requirements of the Quality Management SystemAbility to focus and be detail-oriented and capable of performing microscopy for a various lengths of timeCandidate must be able to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysisLight microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope trainingAbility to work with Phase Contrast and Light Microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and must be able to adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practicesGood communications skills (candidate will have some client interaction) and the ability to multi-taskGood computer skills, both in typing and MS Office SuiteAbility to maintain client confidentialityAbility to work independently and with a teamMust be able to work under pressure and meet short deadlinesAvailable Shift:Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For consideration ALL Applicants MUST apply through the careers web site:https://phf.tbe.taleo.net/phf02/ats/careers/v2/viewRequisition?org=EMSL&cws=40&rid=4449 EMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and FSA.
