WHAT MAKES VOA SPECIAL?VOAC recognizes the unique needs of the older adult who needs a wheelchair ramp to stay at home safely, and the preschooler whose family needs additional resources. VOAC supports veteran’s efforts to exit homelessness as well as provides a safe place for survivors of domestic violence. Wherever VOAC goes, it combines relationship-building, volunteers and quality services to lift and support our neighbor’s efforts to become self-sufficient and reach their full potential.

**The Program Coordinator at The Mission Community Center is responsible for the oversight of the facility and programming. Job duties include collaborating with the Volunteer Specialist and under the direction of the Program Manager to coordinate delivery of appropriate services for the community, primarily individuals experiencing food insecurity and homelessness; and collaborating with Volunteer Services for individual, group and special events and the VOA Colorado Ministry.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of meal service; for breakfast, hot lunch, and sack lunches; inventory and ordering for all kitchen and housekeeping items; monitoring the milieu during rest and relaxation; assisting the participants; food distribution; referrals; community resources and developing programming and onsite community partners to meet community needs; maintaining the safety and wellbeing of all participants; maintaining a clean, orderly and sanitary environment; helping to plan and host special events; and ensures both a compassionate and professional atmosphere between all stakeholders.

Service modalities include Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and Crises De-escalation. All staff are responsible for ensuring professional and compassionate environment and interactions and supporting the work of the ministers and volunteer services on site. The Program Coordinator is cross trained and able to cover the Volunteer Specialist duties in their absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Ensures that the participant’s voice is heard, and when appropriate the resident’s ideas play a prominent role in programming.

· Responsible for possessing an in-depth knowledge regarding program requirements, including support services, and field-relevant best practices.

· Demonstrates knowledge of participant-specific resources, a passion for serving the population and people experiencing homelessness, and the ability to contribute to the program-wide objectives of a diverse and dynamic team.

· Performs duties in a professional manner by maintaining the confidentiality of all information and by participating effectively within and across teams.

· Maintains physical and emotional safety of all persons in the facility. Manages the milieu and addresses any conflict immediately to de-escalate. Will contact emergency personnel as necessary and will accurately and adequately complete any reports or documentation required.

· Supports team members by serving as a resource for analyzing and solving problems and staying abreast of current issues and theories within the field.

· Works directly with other program staff to provide coverage (opening & closing Mission doors) weekdays and on weekends.

· Regulates, receives and ensures proper handling of food donations; orders and keeps track of Mission inventory/resources.

· Helps develop, document and communicate Mission policies, procedures and communicate program objectives to Mission clients and volunteers.

· Interacts courteously and professionally, with all people and resolves conflicts quickly.

· Oversees meal service.

· Coordinates and works closely with volunteers and program staff to accomplish long/short-term Mission goals and objectives and attend monthly meetings with all Mission volunteers and staff.

· Attends meetings and trainings as requested by the Program Manager

· Responsible for ordering weekly food and housekeeping items.

· Performs job responsibilities in accordance with the Health Department Regulations and Social Work Code of Ethics.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements.

· Ability to be single staffed while in the facility while having the responsibility for the safety of up to 100 participants.

· Ability to move quickly and safely to do perimeter checks, and in cases of an emergency.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 10 to 15 times per day.

· Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Salary: $19.00-$21.00/hr

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full time Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm.

May be required to work special event hours or help cover absences

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications of Position

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent

· Good organizational and planning skills; works well as part of a team.

· ServSafe Certified or the ability to becoming certified within three months of hire.

· First Aid/CPR certified or ability to become certified within three months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications of Position

· Experience working with individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, severe and persistent mental health concerns and case management experience.

· Residential experience and/or milieu management.

· Crises intervention skills

· One year of supervisory or administrative experience.

· Bilingual English/Spanish.

Knowledge and Skills

· Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

· High level of competency working with Microsoft Office suite and cloud-based applications.

· Strong time-management and prioritization skills.

· Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

· Strong organization skills

· Must have the ability to present and communicate professionally.

Salary Description

19.00-21.00/hr
