Xcel Energy Projects Engineering Intern - Junior or Senior in Denver, Colorado

Project Description:

  • Engineering internship position in Denver, CO. This role requires being at 1800 Larimer or nearby Xcel Energy generating facilities three (3) days a week during the summer timeframe and may require periodic travel to remote renewable sites, as needed. The position requires working full time between May and August.

  • Work with the engineering and project management staff to support capital project work for large strategic and new renewable generation projects that will be constructed in Colorado and support Xcel Energy's carbon reduction goals. Will perform entry level engineering analysis doing tasks supporting both project management and construction. Tasks include submittal coordination, drawing support, construction planning and oversight, schedule review, quality control support, safety observations, and vendor outreach and coordination, with some exposure to budgeting. Through practical field experience and mentoring, successful candidate will gain significant professional and technical skills to qualify for a future Project Engineer role.

  • This is a preferred co-op through graduation, however summer only opportunities will be considered. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer. For co-ops, hours will be part-time during school.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program, studying areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering.

  • Must be a sophomore and above.

  • Must be able to commute to office location listed in the summer.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.70 to $30.10 per hour
