Description of Job

Overview

The session-only (Jan-May) legislative analyst will track and summarize every bill introduced and maintain an internal database showing its status. We are seeking an individual with strong attention to detail and demonstrated priority and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Read and summarize all legislation that is introduced

  • Maintain an internal database tracking the status of each bill that is introduced

  • Create visual representations of data findings through charts, graphs, and dashboards to make the data understandable

  • Listen to committee and floor proceedings to keep track of votes

  • Assist the policy staff in preparing memos and reports as needed

  • Research Governor appointments as needed

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Must be adaptable in a constantly changing environment and willing to work long hours

  • Must be able to work in an organized manner, with the ability to collaborate, problem solve, and work on a team while also taking individual responsibility to complete assignments

  • The individual in this position will maintain professionalism with every person they work with, including non-partisan staff, legislators and staff of the House and Senate Majority offices, constituents, and lobbyists

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated data management and visualization skills

Compensation

  • $4,000-5,000/month commensurate with experience, with enrollment in PERA, the state’s pension program, and insurance benefits.
