Tetra Tech is currently seeking a part-time Analytical or Environmental Chemists for our Denver, CO location to provide senior data validation support to federal and other clients.

The selected candidate will provide advanced analytical chemistry-related support for environmental projects involving federal, tribal, state, local, and private clients. You will be responsible for conducting up to Stage 4 data validation and data quality assessments. Advanced data validation experience is required. You will work collaboratively with a team of experienced chemists, scientists, and engineers who provide data validation services to clients across the company. Additional job responsibilities include: Support environmental emergency response activities; field investigations (involving soil, sediment, water, and air sampling); coordination with analytical laboratories; and data planning, collection, and evaluation. Provide task and project management support, including procurement and oversight of subcontract laboratories. Work collaboratively with and under the supervision of a project or program manager. Support the preparation of and technical writing for reports, letter reports, remedial investigation reports, monthly progress reports, standard operating procedures, and more. Prepare other various technical deliverables including databases, proposals, cost estimates, tables, and figures. Strong writing skills are critical. Interact with Tetra Tech offices nationwide, and interact with subcontractors, stakeholders, and clients.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in conducting validation of laboratory analytical data according to EPA and other government guidance and protocols. Specifically, the candidate must have/be: Significant experience and advanced proficiency in conducting data validation of all Stages (Stages 1 through 4 as defined in EPA's Guidance for Labeling Externally Validated Laboratory Analytical Data for Superfund Use [January 2009]). Therefore, the position requires depth of experience in conducting multiple Stages of data validation, up to and including Stage 4 reviews of full (Level 4) laboratory data packages; must include experience with recalculating instrument calibration equations and quality control (QC) and field sample results, and interpreting chromatograms and mass spectra in support of target analyte identification. Significant experience is required in the use and application of the EPA CLP National Functional Guidelines for organic, inorganic, and high-resolution data review. The candidate must have broad experience validating analytical data for both organic and inorganic parameters, including for EPA SW-846 Methods 8260 (volatile organic compounds); 8270 (semivolatile organic compounds); 8081 (organochlorine pesticides); 8151 (herbicides); 8290 (dioxins and furans); 8330 (explosives); 6010/6020/7470/7471 Full kn wledge, familiarity with, and understanding of the various compendiums of laboratory analytical methods, including EPA SW-846, EPA toxic organic methods in ambient air, and the Contract Laboratory Program (CLP) Statements of Work. Experience conducting data validation of the analysis of samples (for example, via EPA Method 537.1 and EPA Draft Method 1633) for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) is a plus. Experience conducting data quality assessments and writing data quality assessment reports that summarize the reconciliation of a project's data quality with the stated project data quality objectives (DQO). Proficiency in interpreting field and laboratory analytical data and preparation of technical reports. Experience preparing technical reports, memos, response to comments tables, data tables, and figures is required. Able to interface with clients, subcontractors, working groups, and internal customers is required. Able to communicate effectively and make evaluated decisions for the betterment of the client and the company.
