JOB SUMMARY The Senior SCADA Engineer is responsible for managing and enhancing the IT/OT components of SCADA systems, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and security. Leading large-scale projects and setting standards, this position will drive innovation and efficiency across the organization. This role involves resolving complex technical issues, mentoring team members, and making critical decisions with a high degree of autonomy. This position requires not only deep technical expertise but also leadership and strategic thinking, playing a vital role in upholding BKV’s values of solving problems, having grit, embracing change, delivering on promises and uniting our teams as One BKV while contributing to operational success. RESPONSIBILITIES Typical job responsibilities of the SENIOR SCADA ENGINEER include: • Understand the infrastructure and interfaces required to be monitored and controlled using SCADA systems. • Design, implement, and maintain SCADA systems that support scalability, reliability, and seamless integration into BKV’s IT/OT infrastructure and systems. • Coordinate and partner with IT and functional business units to ensure SCADA solutions meet business needs, including hardware selection, software development, network configuration, and automation of workflows and data processes. • Exemplify high standards of communication to end users, collaborating with business functions to effectively manage and disseminate notifications regarding outages, changes, and new features within the SCADA systems. • Optimize the performance of the SCADA systems to ensure real-time monitoring and control of industrial processes with minimal latency and downtime. • Establish and uphold compliance with corporate governance standards for SCADA systems. • Maintain and support the SCADA systems. • Ensure IT controls, change management and best practices are met. • Perform server maintenance, patching and system monitoring. • Coordinate third-party vendors for support and project work. • Create and maintain automated monitoring solutions to reduce manual monitoring of the systems. • Partner with IT/OT team members to troubleshoot SCADA issues, leveraging knowledge and critical for quick resolution and continuous system improvement. • Document the design and architecture of the SCADA systems. • Attend system and vendor conferences and keep up on trending SCADA practices, especially around emissions monitoring and prevention, and share with broader BKV team. • Guide the organization in best practices for automation and system integration. • Provide mentoring and training to key groups on system use, standards and pending enhancements. • Perform other duties as required. REQUIRED SKILLS • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements. • Experience in oil and/or natural gas industry. Knowledge may include standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements. Production accounting, measurements systems, automation experience a plus. • Extensive SCADA experience required. Experience with CygNet and/or Wonderware a plus; familiarity with both systems is a significant advantage. SCADA understanding should include components, protocols and application in various industries. • Skilled in optimizing and troubleshooting complex system architectures, ensuring robust performance and reliability. • Proficient in data querying and visualization tools (examples may include SQL, Python, Power BI, Spotfire, etc). • Proven track record of reducing system errors, preventing data loss, improving system performance, and ensuring system resilience. • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset for decision-making in complex, dynamic environments. • Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-departmentally, mentor team members, and influence organizational success. • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a focus on driving team performance and alignment. • Growth-oriented mindset, with a strong aptitude for innovation, adaptability, and resilience in the face of challenges. • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting. • Self-driven and works collaboratively within dynamic, high-pressure environments. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. Five or more years of additional experience in SCADA systems may substitute for degree. • Minimum 7-10 years relevant experience required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS • The preferred location for this role is in one of BKV’s locations: Denver CO (BKV Headquarters), Ft Worth, TX or Tunkhannock, PA. Remote work will be considered. • Indoor working environment that requires the ability to perform repetitive motions and operate standard office equipment. • May occasionally be exposed to distracting noise while sharing office space with others. • Some travel up to 30% may be required.
