Amazon Software Development Engineer, Data Center Systems & Automation (Facility Inventory & Topology) in Denver, Colorado

Description

Help us push the availability and reliability of cloud infrastructure to new heights! The AWS Data Center Systems & Automation team builds services to monitor and operate data center infrastructure, including Cloud Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Our services directly contribute to the high availability of AWS data centers and Amazon’s sustainability goals. Teams in Data Center Automation solve problems of massive data ingestion and processing, build distributed cloud computing systems, work on data visualization, anomaly detection, analytics, and graph databases.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who is passionate about leading the architecture and development of application software that helps keep Amazon data centers running efficiently and securely. On any given day, we use Java, graph query language (Gremlin), DynamoDB, CloudFormation, CloudWatch and other public AWS services and a host of Amazon-internal tools.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

How do you know you are a good fit?

You must be passionate about solving novel, complex technology problems. You enjoy ambiguity and having to cut through it to decide what gets built, how and in which order. You are looking for a team where every individual raises the bar and the bar is continuously moving up. If you are an experienced software developer interested in defining and delivering new services to help fuel the explosive growth of AWS, then this is the job for you!

Key job responsibilities

In this role you’ll be leading the design, development, testing and launch of new data center inventory and topology services and features in the data center infrastructure space. You will collaborate with your team members and engineers on other teams. You will deliver quality software to production, ensuring best customer experience and reliability. You will join the on-call rotation to help solving customer issues in the production system and drive best practices that enable a quality product. Above all, you will care deeply about the customer and delight in creating simple and elegant solutions that solve our customers’ biggest challenges.
