Job Description
The purpose of this job is to ensure the company is compliant with accurate federal, state, and local excise tax rates.
Essential Functions
Conduct excise tax taxability research and tax account reconciliation
Perform federal, state, and local tax rate verification and research
Manage system maintenance for Ascend, Lawson, and FuelSmart
Assist excise tax supervisor and lead excise tax accountant with more extensive review of excise tax issues
Train and mentor excise tax accountants
Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field r equired
Minimum five years’ experience with federal, multistate, and local excise tax required
Specialized Knowledge
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Access
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA exam-eligible preferred
Advanced knowledge of Lawson, Ascend, FuelSmart, Fueltrac, and Husker Oil software
Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability make decisions and work with minimal supervision
Ability to set priorities, multitask, meet deadlines, and resolve problems with a high sense of urgency
Travel
- Travel required less than 5%

Pay Rates Starting between: $89,670.00 - $147,945.00 / year
