JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Training and Support for the Small Business Lending Group (SBL) at Banc of California will be involved in day-to-day support of the Small Business Lending Team. In addition to training new employees (both sales and operations) in SBL software, systems and processes, the role will support the sales manager in assuring quality loan submissions from the sales team and assisting in all aspects of deal flow and process management. In many aspects of this position, this role serves as an extension of the National Sales Manager in facilitating productive and effective interaction with the sales force, underwriting, and closing teams. This will include helping BDO’s in structuring and vetting loan submissions for eligibility and completeness, as well as managing minimum critical requirements of loan submissions. Reporting to the Managing Director, Small Business Lending, this Vice President-level role will partner with key business stakeholders to design, develop and deploy high-impact learning solutions, process and procedures that drive revenue across the entire sales life cycle, from prospecting to closing and handoff to servicing.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead to onboard and train new team members in SBL Systems – both sales and operations personnel

  • Testing new employee laptops at hire and ensuring accurate set-up during on-boarding

  • Intensive support for new BDO’s during first hundred days – smoothing the handoff from the field to underwriting

  • Help new team members understand SBL systems and process and the rationale for SBL approach to systems

  • Help structure deals and educate new hires in utilizing software and the SBL CEM

  • Gatekeeper to review all deals prior to release into underwriting for compliance with minimum criticals.

  • Support the sales manager in motivating and directing the sales team

  • Manage Lender AI tickets related to the sales team

  • Pull SBA pre-score for all loan 500k or less for sales

  • Work with Underwriting Manager as needed

  • Manage and update various process guides as needed for sales and operations training and support

  • Assist sales team with spreads review and structuring deals to score on CEM and meet SOP as needed – pre-screen deals for quality and applicability

  • Copy borrower data on deals as needed in Lender AI system for repeat customers

  • Assist sales manager with sales related reporting

  • Maintain sales related items in BDO Toolbox

  • Assist with occasional special projects and perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and ability to “spread” financials for purposes of underwriting and deal assessment. Underwriting experience a significant plus in this role

  • Financial analysis of small business P&L, balance sheet and cash flow metrics

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Required: 8-12 years of direct experience in SBA Lending

  • Direct experience in SBA sales, underwriting and closing positions

  • Deep knowledge of SBA Loan Programs and the SBA SOP

  • Direct experience in program development and strategy

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

SALARY RANGE: $121,451.20 - 157,888.64 USD; Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
