Job Description
The Iowa Department of Revenue’s Financial Services Division is seeking anAccounting Clerk 1.
The Financial Services Division ensures the accurate accounting of state revenue collection and departmental expenses, while collaborating with leadership to manage the Department’s budget effectively.
In this position you will:
Process account payables, follow internal procedures for invoice payments, and reconcile all accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
Process employee travel payments in Iowa Advantage and Workday systems and distribute to personnel to include on-line approval and P-card travel documentation.
Process cash receipts for licensing, liquor, and tax EFT and checks; liquor penalties; tobacco penalties
Manage Accounting in-box for all correspondence from the public
Route communication to appropriate accounting and other personnel
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
Experience with one or more systems: Iowa Advantage/I/3, data warehouse, IMPACT
Knowledge in reconciling accounts with several payment origins
Utilizes strong attention to detail and takes initiative on assignments
Prior customer service and multi-tasking experience
Job Specific Competencies:
Knowledge of clerical accounting methods, forms and techniques as learned on the job
Knowledge of accounting codes, classifications and terminology pertinent to clerical accounting operations
Works and communicates with internal and external clients and customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner
Ability to maintain financial records and prepare clerical accounting reports and statements.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency and one year of clerical experience which involved the compilation, tabulation, verification, recording or examination of financial, statistical or related numerical information;
OR
the successful completion of a post-high school vocational/technical, business college, or area community college curriculum in accounting which included concentrated course work equivalent to twenty semester hours (or more) in accounting for the required education;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of employment in clerical office work for each year of the required education;
OR
substituting the successful completion of thirty semester hours or the academic equivalent in a post high school Business, Accounting or closely related curriculum for each year of the required experience;
OR
any equivalent combination of qualifying education and/or experience.
