Principal Financial Group Director of Product Management, Enterprise Data & Analytics in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As a Director of Product Management for Principal’s Enterprise Data and Analytics organization, you’ll drive a team of Product Managers, data scientists, engineers, and analysts in their mission to enable insights about our customers and business. You'll have a chance to not only help prioritize the critical choices to move from reactive analysis to predictive and generative insights, but to lead the transformative change that makes your teams successful in building that future.

Our Enterprise Data and Analytics organization provides data, insights, reports, and tools to teams and individuals throughout our business and analytics community. Needs range from understanding customer behavior to financial patterns to knowing better how we work. We dig in deeply with requests to address not just the ask, but the underlying needs for now and the future to come.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to build product and platform strategies

  • Mature product practices and drive outcomes while collaborating with business stakeholders, architecture and technology teams

  • Iterate on OKRs that drive real outcomes and help teams connect these to work

  • Experiment and iterate to find the most impactful work for the outcomes we’ve chosen

  • Lead and coach a passionate team of Product Management professionals

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, military experience, or education

  • 7+ years working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced product environment

  • 4+ years of people management experience, growing the talent of individuals and teams

  • Demonstrated success managing complex stakeholder expectations across multiple products

  • Proven success in driving product outcomes in a multi-product environment while establishing business strategy for multiple products and helping others establish product strategy

  • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery and the ability to mentor that in others

  • Understanding of various approaches and tools for research, synthesis, ideation, and testing in a dynamic dual track discovery and delivery loop

  • Proven success building positive relationships with different functional partners with the ability to collaborate, work and influence at all levels within an organization

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to establish relationships and influence business partners

Skills that will help you stand out

  • Lead change management initiatives for product domain

  • Background in Data domains (data engineering, data analytics, data science, business intelligence, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a Product organization

  • Product Management experience in platform products

  • Desire to help transform your organization to the Product Operating Model

  • Demonstrated record of creating clarity from ambiguity

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$137000 - $185000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers an in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangement in Des Moines, IA.
