Principal Financial Group HR Business Partner in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

Principal is seeking a Human Resource Business Partner professional! Within the HR Business Partner role, you will consult on key programs & initiatives and act as a strategic partner for complex business areas.

We are considering candidates at the Human Resource Business Partner Consultant or Human Resource Business Partner level!

As the HR Business Partner Consultant , you will consult on key programs and initiatives that impact HR and the business units. You will work closely with Sr. Business Leaders, HR Business Partners, and HR Project Managers along with various HR teams to deliver business outcomes. Use understanding of the business strategy and environment to meet strategic objectives. Build a plan and execute initiatives like succession planning, critical talent, overall retention, and diversity as well as broader initiatives such as operating model changes, culture, organizational capabilities.

As the HR Business Partner, you will use your understanding of the business strategy and environment to build a well-rounded human capital strategy to meet business objectives. Develop and execute upon a talent management strategy for the business including plans/execution around critical roles, succession, retention, and diversity. Strategically partner with executive level leaders, providing them coaching, mentorship and opportunities to accelerate the work of the business.

Who You Are

HR Business Partner Consultant

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, 4+ years experience in HR, including experience in strategy/planning, compensation, development, talent management, and leadership

  • Understanding of line of business and related industry and broad understanding of business unit required

  • Must be able to build shown relationships and influence senior leaders

  • Strong interpersonal/project management skills; critical thinking/planning and decision-making skills with high level of diagnostic and analytical skills required

  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills required

HR Business Partner

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, 8+ years experience in HR, including experience in strategy/planning, compensation, development, talent management, and leadership

  • Deep understanding of line of business and related industry and broad understanding of business unit required

  • Must be able to build shown relationships and influence executive level leaders

  • Strong interpersonal/project management skills; critical thinking/planning and decision-making skills with high level of diagnostic and analytical skills required

  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills required

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$120000 - $167000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers a hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) schedule at our corportate office in Des Moines, Iowa. This offer does not offer relocation.
