Job Description

The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is seeking a Program Support Specialist (Temporary) to assist with program support duties related to historic preservation compliance and projects.
This position is classified as a Temporary Worker allowed to work no more than 780 hours this fiscal year and is exempt from all benefits and Merit Rule. The salary range is $15.98 - $23.26 per hour and will report directly to Heather Gibb, State Historic Preservation Officer.
At SHPO, we are committed to identifying, preserving, and protecting Iowa’s historic and prehistoric resources. We administer state and federal historic preservation programs and maintain a comprehensive survey and inventory of historic properties across Iowa.
What You’ll Do:
As a member of our team, you will:
Handle incoming and outgoing mail and FedEx shipments.
Process submissions and perform data entry to prepare projects for professional review, including digital file management.
Assist with file maintenance, which may involve lifting boxes. • Support the scanning and digitization of SHPO records.
Perform other related programmatic support duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates will have:
Familiarity with Salesforce and the Microsoft suite of products including Excel and/or Access.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
