A thriving company in the Energy/Natural Resources industry is on the search for a permanent Senior Accountant to join their team in the DES PLAINES, Illinois area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for producing financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. Located in Des Plaines, Illinois, this Senior Accountant role is with a company in the Energy/Natural Resources field.

Your responsibilities

• Formulate Balance Sheet account reconciliations

• Commitment to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

• Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner

• Participate in various department-wide initiatives

• Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP

• Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary

• Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required

• Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

• Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

  Requirements

• 7+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

• Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills

• Skilled with ERP systems

• Strong time management skills preferred

• Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

• Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

• Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

• Comprehensive knowledge of project accounting

• Microsoft Excel experience

• Command of Costpoint (Deltek)

• Foundational knowledge in billing

• Bank reconciliations experience highly desired

• Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

• BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

• Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

• SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company

• Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
