Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital Dietary Manager in Desoto, Texas

The Dietary Director oversees all aspects of the Dietary Department, including staff, meal preparation, service, procurement and the safety and sanitation of the department.

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinates all activities and employees to ensure quality food service.

  • Provides supervision and training to the nutrition service personnel.

  • Monitors the daily activities of the department and personnel.

  • Ensures that appropriate sanitation and safety practices are being adhered to by staff.

  • Schedules the nutritional service staff according to the work load.

  • Interviews and hires appropriate staff.

  • Counsels and evaluates nutrition service staff according to hospital policies and procedures.

  • Encourages continuity, team work and quality service.

  • Tracks meal count statistics to develop into a monthly budget report.

  • Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.

  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements

  • Education: High School degree or equivalent preferred. Associate Degree preferred in nutritional science or food science.

  • Required Licenses: Valid Food Handlers Certificate. Food Protection Manager certificate from Serve Safe or other training accredited by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) preferred. Registered Dietician preferred.

  • Experience: Five (5) years experience in all phases of food service required. Two (2) years experience in management required. Prior experience in hospital food service preferred.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.

  • Screening: Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical and be able to provide positive employment references.

  • Physical Demands: With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lbs), finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly; visually detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess; perceive the nature of sound with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, or fingers. Light work most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and occasionally medium work, that is exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
