Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Actuarial Analyst II- Pricing in Detroit, Michigan
Responsible for performing routine actuarial analyses requiring the application of acceptable actuarial techniques, procedures and criteria related to various actuarial area including but not limited to valuations, financial reporting and forecasting, trend analytics, and pricing. Perform routine actuarial analyses requiring the application of acceptable actuarial techniques, procedures and criteria. Analyze completed work for reasonableness and accuracy; utilize judgment in recommending specific courses of action considering the internal, external and customer impacts. Learn, use and implement programming and maintain analytical programs with limited direction. Utilize data management and structure techniques with limited direction and oversight. Develop and enhance procedures including review for actuarial soundness. Perform experience and financial analysis to identify root causes and develop multiple solutions for actuarial problems. With guidance, present completed work and related implications to team members, internal clients and leadership. Remain current on actuarial techniques, seek development and improvement opportunities and understand corporate/ cross-functional objectives and cultural beliefs. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or related area. One (1) year experience BCN/BCBSM actuarial experience or comparable experience at another company. Earned at least one (1) course credit towards the attainment of the FSA designation and is a member, in good standing, of the Actuarial Development Program. Knowledge of standard actuarial methods and practices used to perform complex analyses and calculations. Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to apply appropriate planning and prioritization techniques. Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job. Departmental Preferences: Pricing experience. Dental & Vision experience. BCBSM product knowledge or product knowledge at another company.
