Henry Ford Health System Manager of Pharmacy Database & Technology Systems Management - Product Service Line - Full Time in Detroit, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Manager-Pharmacy Database & Technology Systems Management is a member of the Pharmacy Shared Services leadership team, and reports to the Vice-President, Pharmacy Shared Services. The Manager will be the lead pharmacist administrator over pharmacy databases and interfaces powering medication management across the care delivery system, such as RxWorks and all of the required interfaces, associated software and technology solutions.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance and coordination for medication related information systems and technologies to ensure strategic alignment with the HFH Pharmacy Enterprise and portfolio of pharmacy services.

  • Provide operational, clinical, and safety recommendations related to installation, maintenance and enhancements of pharmacy related systems and technologies.

  • Ensure pharmacy information systems and medication technology processes support pharmacy practice professional requirements, established clinical standards of care, meet or exceed patient care quality standards, are in compliance with various regulatory agencies, and integrate with other departments as appropriate.

  • Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of pharmacy information systems and technology to consistently meet or exceed customer's needs, through effective continuous quality improvement practices. Monitors, measures, and evaluates respective systems’ effectiveness while assisting in optimizing pharmacy assets.

  • Oversees the troubleshooting process for pharmacy databases and technology systems.

  • Triages pharmacy needs across the care delivery system and ensures active follow-up on all reported issues.

  • Collaborate with the respective IT and Epic teams across the health system, and serve as liaison representing HFH Pharmacy in these areas.

  • Maintains knowledge of leading-edge developments, best practices, and evolving pharmacy information technology systems and solutions by participation in ongoing independent study, education- related professional activities, precepting pharmacy students or residents, and affiliations with colleges of pharmacy and respective professional societies.

  • Enable and foster collaborative and transparent healthcare technology industry relationships to advance HFH Pharmacy Enterprise forward in pursuit of high reliability and safety.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Must have obtained an advanced degree (Pharm.D. or equivalent), completed a residency program approved by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a fellowship in pharmacy, or have demonstrated a similar level of achievement in the practice of hospital pharmacy.

  • Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan. Should be Board Certified in his/her area of specialty practice.
