Practice Detail:Partner with Henry Ford St. John Hospital to provide Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine services for our pediatric patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides care to the newborns admitted to the inpatient units under supervision and in consultation with neonatologists

  • Coordinate clinical care to the newborns admitted in the newborn intensive care unit, provide delivery room stabilization and accompany the transport team. The neonatal nurse practitioner is an integral member of the clinical team in NICU

  • Gathers relevant data from available records, performs assessment of the newborn and formulates plans of care and monitoring

  • Orders tests and follows up on the results, performs procedures and documents in the electronic health care record

  • Communicates with the subspecialists, nursing staff and ancillary services

  • Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources

  • Counsels and educates families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources

  • Documents delivery of health care in accordance with specific specialty area standards

    Qualifications :

    Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required Federal DEA license

  • National Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification

    Education:

  • Master's degree of Nursing required
