Quality Assurance Coordinator III

At EW Grobbel, we have been proudly delivering high quality food for 140 years.  As one of Crain’s “50 Fastest Growing Companies in Detroit,” we’re ready to be a national powerhouse.  We are seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator with advanced experience to take on a leadership role within our quality assurance team. This position is ideal for individuals who have demonstrated expertise in quality assurance and are ready to handle more complex quality control tasks, mentor junior team members, and assist in driving improvements across production processes.  This is an ACTIVE position with 100% of time being on the plant floor (standing, walking, climbing stairs).  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced product inspections, equipment calibrations, and process audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory (HACCP, USDA, FDA) and internal quality standards.

  • Lead and conduct root cause analyses for quality deviations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.

  • Oversee quality assurance documentation, audit preparation, and record maintenance, ensuring that all records comply with regulatory and company standards.

  • Train and mentor team members, providing guidance on quality standards, troubleshooting, and best practices.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, proposing and implementing process adjustments to enhance quality and reduce waste.

  • Support preparation for third-party and regulatory audits, assisting in action planning and follow-up for any audit findings.

  • Communicate with production and operations teams to ensure quality standards are consistently upheld throughout all stages of production.

    Key Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance within the food production industry.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to work 100% on the plant floor, routinely lifting 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP, and quality control methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, manage documentation, and perform root cause analysis.

  • Leadership qualities, with experience in training and mentoring junior staff.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data management software.
