Tetra Tech's High Performance Buildings Division is actively seeking to hire a Mid-Level Structural Designer for a temporary part time as needed position. The selected individual will work as part of our Technical Services team under the supervision of the Lead Structural Engineer. The qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career of working with multiple drafting/modeling platforms to develop engineering drawings on a variety of projects. This position will require the ability to work independently or as part of a larger team to improve company drafting standards and procedures in a fast-paced work environment.

Additional Locations: Detroit, MI / Ann Arbor, MI / Huntsville, AL / Virginia Beach, VA / Will consider other locations as well.

Your Contributions will Include: Provide a full range of drawing productions for structural plans and details including steel, masonry, concrete, and wood framing of buildings, foundations and other structures. Produce complete plans from verbal descriptions and rough sketches from registered professionals using Revit modeling software. Work in a multidisciplined team to coordinate tasks that will prevent clashes, rework and to maximize efficiency. Support the lead design engineer to coordinate set-up and up-keep of structural drawings throughout the life of the project. Support the Structural BIM manager to improve structural templates, standards, and procedures. Read and interpret CAD requirement for working projects.

Required Qualifications: Minimum 4 years of Structural drafting and design experience using latest versions of Revit modeling software. Must have design experience working with project architects on industrial / commercial building structures utilizing various types of building materials. Ability to analyze data and situations and come up with creative solutions. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member. Possess the ability to exercise independent judgment to achieve generally stated objectives and requirements. Must be able to collaborate with others to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems. Strong interpersonal skills and experience helping to maintain successful client relationships. Knowledge of industry, engineering standards, mathematics, and materials. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A valid driver's license, and ability to travel to client offices and project sites, good driving record. Must be U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree in Computer-Aided Design / Drafting or closely related field. Experience using Tekla Structures is considered a plus. Preferably uses higher-level commands, time-saving programs and routines.

This role can be performed from a wide range of locations throughout the US. The pay range for this position is between $33.00 to $43.00 an hour; however, pay offered may vary depending on primary work location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal parity. Due to the part-time nature of this role, certain adjusted benefits are offered, to include 401K, paid time off, medical, disability, insurance.
