R1 RCM Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations - Backend in Detroit, Michigan

As our Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operation (Backend), you will be responsible for managing and improving key components such as claims processing, coding, billing, payment posting, collections, and denial management. Every day, you will collaborate with other departments to optimize revenue cycle workflows and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while maximizing revenue and operational efficiency. To thrive, you must have strong leadership abilities, deep technical expertise, and a strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement across backend operations.

Here’s What You Can Expect:

  • Oversee the entire backend revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, payment posting, and account resolution.

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize revenue cycle processes and improve financial performance.

  • Lead and mentor a team of revenue cycle professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of revenue cycle processes with other departments.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to achieve operational goals.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

  • Drive process improvements using technology and automation.

  • Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in revenue cycle management, with a significant portion in leadership (director or above).

  • Experience with backend operations (billing, coding, claims management, denial management, and AR).

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead large teams and manage department budgets.

  • Strong and broad understanding of Revenue Cycle Operations within a hospital setting.

  • Strategic vision and operational excellence across end-to-end solutions.

  • Experience working with outsourced partners or vendors for back-office functions.

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $170,955.00 - $265,705.48 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
