Works as part of the Washcoat production team to complete Washcoat process operations according to standard operating procedures. Responsible for operating in a safe, productive and high-quality manner. These duties include producing Washcoat in line with batching instructions & specifications.

In addition, coordinates the activity within the team so that established targets are safely met. Anticipate and resolves disturbances that would impact the team achieving its shift objectives.

Your responsibilities:

  • Safety:

  • Ensures both self and team adheres to EHS standards at all times, and that Washcoat production does not override EHS requirements.

  • Ensures the Washcoat team operates all relevant machinery, tools and equipment and undertakes standard production tasks safely and in accordance with instructions.

  • Quality:

  • Completes all activities and ensures team completes all activities in line with standard operating procedures.

  • Ensures compliance of team to maintain defined quality standards and non-conformance is investigated and escalated as appropriate.

  • Carry out investigations on quality issues with appropriate technical support.

  • Delivery:

  • Coordinates employees on an assigned team to ensure the production of Washcoat within established timing, quality, safety and cost standards and according to production plan.

  • Monitors the performance and output of the shift and may re-assign production activities to deliver set KPIs.

  • Performs basic maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot problems or arrange for equipment to be repaired or serviced by appropriate technicians.

  • Is personally accountable for completing their day-to-day activities in accordance with training, skills & standards.

  • Batches quality Washcoat in line with schedule to ensure availability for production to minimize downtime due to Washcoat availability

  • Signals irregularities in the operation of machinery and equipment.

  • Escalation of any problems in completing their day-to-day targets/work e.g. product quality and job training, adopting stop & fix approach.

  • Investigate initial diagnostic for machine failures.

  • Cost:

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and the implementation of best practice principles, to enhance performance and operations

  • Actively leads or support problem solving as appropriate to help the team achieve its goals.

  • Supports and leads as appropriate CAPS implementation, as part of this following lean disciplines such as 5S, Kaizen, standard work etc.

  • Has accountability for the control of materials issued to their allocated Washcoat areas accounting for raw materials and heels and washings, in the required timeframe. Initiate full investigation into any variances and communication of outcomes through 5 why or other root causing tools.

  • People:

  • Coaches and mentors less skilled workers to help them use production equipment, resolve problems and apply standards of work.

  • To promote, establish and maintain collaborative approach and communication with all employees within the plant.

Requirements for the role:

  • Vocational or university education, over 3 years practical and relevant on-the-job training.

  • Good communication skills required to exchange information with shift operators, operational management and peers in associated processes.

  • Good knowledge of how their specific business area operates.
