Packaging Innovation Engineer II
The Engineer II applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies. Analyzes, develops and evaluates systems. Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects. Designs and drafts blueprints, visits systems in the field and manages projects. Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment
Job Summary
The Packaging Innovation Engineer II is responsible for leading innovation initiatives with a focus on i) sustainable packaging solutions that promote the circular economy and ii) alternative packaging solutions from inception to execution.
Essential Functions
Generate out-of-the-box innovative ideas for ways to gain a competitive edge in the market.
Take innovation initiatives through all phases of product development:
Research novel packaging solutions, determine project feasibility, and identify potential road blocks for projects.
Independently run experiments in lab and perform pilot testing on lab equipment to validate new packaging concepts.
Create packaging test methods and SOPs for novel testing procedures.
Work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead projects to completion.
Support manufacturing, product development, and packaging development with timely technical recommendations.
Present and communicate results internally and externally.
Travel to perform on-site tests in manufacturing plants (up to 25% travel).

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
4 Years – Experience in Packaging or other related Engineering or Manufacturing fields
2 Years – Experience in Position
2 Years – Experience managing projects

Preferred Qualifications:
6 Years– Experience in Packaging or other related Engineering or Manufacturing fields
4 Years – Experience working in Position
4 Years – Experience managing people/projects

Competencies
The Packaging Innovation Engineer II is expected to demonstrate:

Strong interpersonal communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and in collaborative group environments.
Possesses solid working knowledge of the bottling industry and related processes.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Experience with managing vendor relationships and project budgeting.

Education
Minimum Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, or other related fields or equivalent experience
Preferred:
Master's Degree in Packaging Engineering/Packaging Science, other related fields, or equivalent experience
