The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating State of Florida businesses and professionals, such as cosmetologists, veterinarians, condominiums, hotels, and restaurants. The work you will do:

This position is located within the Doral office of the Division of Florida Condominium, Timeshares and Mobile Homes and reports to the Attorney Supervisor. This position is responsible for

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and coordinates the adoption of all Division administrative rules and forms.

  • Serves as liaison with the Bureaus, Office of the General Counsel, Joint Administrative Procedures Committee and Bureau of Administrative Code. Provides legal notice of all public meetings. Publishes timely meeting notices in the Florida Administrative Weekly.

  • Leads the Division’s Annual Regulatory Plan as well as any other rule related functions for and on behalf of the Division.

  • Responsible for the preparation, oversight and tracking of a high volume of transmittal inquiries, responding on behalf of the Division or preparing replies for the signature of the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and/or the Division Director.

  • Provides customer service for constituent inquiries, both written and telephone inquiries, from the general public, licensees, and other interested parties, including escalations.

  • Works closely with the Deputy Director on special projects as needed. Assists in the preparation of Annual Reports and other documents and reports as needed by the Deputy Director and updates policies and procedures.

    Minimum Requirements :

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of supervisory or lead experience; or

  • Completion of a training program to become a legal assistant, a paralegal, a legal paraprofessional or a lawyer’s or attorney’s assistant and 2 years of supervisory or lead experience; or

  • A degree or certificate in legal technology, legal administration, legal studies or allied legal services and 2 years of supervisory or lead experience; or

  • An associate degree and two years of experience involving paralegal work or equivalent and 2 years of supervisory or lead experience; or

  • An associate degree and two years of experience in legal secretarial work; or such work deemed equivalent by the managing supervisor and 2 years of supervisory or lead experience.

    Preferences:

    Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate at least one or more of the following:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major with an emphasis in legal studies, such as, allied legal services, political science and criminal law.

  • A degree or certificate in legal technology, legal administration, legal studies or allied legal services; or

  • Strong familiarity with agency rulemaking;

  • Strong ability to provide clear and effective communication to customers;

  • Familiarity with the Florida Administrative Register and the Florida Administrative Weekly

  • A strong ability to work well in a fast-paced professional environment and meet or exceed condensed deadlines; and

  • Strong technical writing ability.
