Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Manager of Network and Communications, the Network Administrator provides technical direction for (LAN/WAN) systems, servers, and physical security infrastructure including requirements, planning, and implementation of network, voice services, and end point security for buildings and systems. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in enterprise data systems, how they integrate with internal infrastructure and the outside carrier network.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting all network hardware at all locations. Including but is not limited to: Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points, Servers, Battery Backup units.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of network infrastructure to include service centers. This effort will include scheduling upgrades and maintenance that minimally impact core business and instructional functions. Performs off hour upgrades, installing patches, service packs, and maintenance releases.

  • Work closely with Internet Service Providers to ensure reliable services are provided, upgrade, and or replace dated and antiquated technologies and protocols.

  • Maintain headquarters network infrastructure, conference room and NOC technologies. Recommend technologies of end-of-life end of support devices and maintain managed services.

  • Work closely under the guidance of Network Security Administrator to accomplish all tasks, projects, and objectives related to the goals of the company.

  • Troubleshoots and coordinates our vendor efforts to remediate network and voice performance issues, scheduled maintenances, and outages.

  • Maintain and update monitoring software accordingly with deployed and installed hardware and software.

  • Collaborate with IT staff and other departments within the enterprise to develop solutions that are highly effective and appropriate for achieving the long-term goals of the organization.

  • Maintain a working relationship with Level-1 and Level-2 and provide advanced level support to ensure service issues get resolved promptly.

  • Intermediate data cabling and hardware implementation to support network upgrades and expansion. Hands-on implementation requires the ability to perform network structured cabling for existing or new buildouts.

  • Assist Communications Administrator as required, basic understanding of Cisco communication technologies including Communications Manager, Unity Connection, Contact Center Express, and Jabber.

  • Assist Physical Security Administrator with physical security infrastructure technologies such as door and gate controls, intercoms, cameras, and related technologies.

  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
