ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Legal clerk/assistant to Chief of Appeals unit of the Public Defender's Office.
  • Legal Secretary for multiple attorneys.
  • Takes and transcribes dictation of a legal nature accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepares all types of legal documents and assists in preparing cases for court and hearings.
  • Maintains and completes accurate files and records.
  • Screens phone calls, answers questions and screens visitors.
  • Types legal correspondence, orders of court, legal documents and other related typing as required, as well as legal briefs and sensitive materials.
  • Organizes and schedules appointments and meetings and makes certain they are kept or rescheduled.
  • Assists in the compilation of information, reports and programs.
  • Performs similar or related duties as required.

     

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Associate's Degree in related field preferred and/or experience working with a criminal law firm.
  • Thorough knowledge of Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme Court rules and regulations.
  • Skill in typing accurately at reasonable rate of speed with experience in taking dictation.
  • Must be able to work efficiently without direction with other offices and the public.
