Cirrus Aircraft is currently seeking any students in a Machining, Welding, or other Technical Manufacturing or engineering program interested in a part-time internship in Machining at our Metal Works facility. This is a part-time internship opportunity (16-20 hours per week) based in Duluth, MN.

This internship runs 1 year, mid-September through August 2025.

Schedule Options:

Schedules will be discussed on a case-by-case basis to accommodate student and business needs.

  • Day shifts (flexible to accommodate Monday through Friday half days, or a couple days at full 8-10 hour shifts to equal 16-20 hour per week).

  • Evening shifts (Monday through Thursday, 4-9:30pm).

    Opportunities for Experience:

  • Fabrication of machined piece parts and tooling, prototypes, molds and tooling – fixtures using models, blueprints, drawings, and verbal directions.

  • Operation of vertical and horizontal CNC Milling machines. Machine set-up and program adjustment. (Haas equipment preferred)

  • CNC lathe operation and set-up, including live tooling. (Mazak equipment preferred)

  • TIG welding of structural aircraft components. Chromoly steel, tube and plate.

  • Sheet metal assembly. Riveting with pulled, squeezed, or bucked rivets.

  • Metal surface finishing technologies. Abrasive blasting. Chemical surface treatments. Powder-coating.

  • Interpretation of manufacturing work instructions, drawings, and specifications. Job tracking and execution software.

  • Work with a high-performing team. Workplace safety culture. Innovative product and manufacturing process.

    Qualifications:

  • Current student in a Machining, Welding, or other Technical Manufacturing or engineering program.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

    Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen & background check.

  • Must be able to complete entire duration of internship.

  • Must be able to secure local housing for duration of internship.
