Job Description:

The Communications Director effectively leads the development and implementation of strategic public relations programs, communication strategies and tactics to advance the mission and strategic goals of Essentia Health. Directors are assigned to direct either the organization’s internal and executive communications or external communication and public relations activities. Communication Directors lead the efforts to promote and enhance employee engagement, quality of care and the organization’s image and brand(s) on all fronts. They identify opportunities based on the analysis of strategic market research, data, and market information. With the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, develop long-range communication goals, objectives, and measures, and provides timely, accurate information to support Essentia Health performance goals and priorities.

Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains a strategic communications plan for the system

• Contributes to business development through communications and public relations strategies, results and measurements

• Collaborates closely with the community relations and public policy functions to support and align work to achieve shared objectives

• Identifies and formalizes collaborative relations with other organizations committed to serving the same, targeted populations as Essentia Health

• Plans and prepares the annual operating and expense budget for public relations and manages expenses

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, or related field

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in marketing, advertising and/or brand management, including experience in health care organization or consumer-oriented marketing environment.

• 3 years of leadership experience
