Focusing on visual storytelling and brand stewardship, the Marketing and Communications Assistant will serve as a resource across CAHSS in the areas of graphic design, photo/video creation, and digital platform management. VISUAL CONTENT CREATION (50%) Edits graphic design assets from existing templates for websites, social media, television, magazines, email marketing campaigns, newspapers, posters, and brochures. Captures event and campus life photography. Takes promotional and production photos for all Theatre productions, excluding Stage 2 and Lab Series productions. Gathers and edits video for campaigns across digital platforms. Approves digital sign submissions from CAHSS departments with attention to brand coherence. Acts as the primary contact for print and merchandising vendors. DAY-TO-DAY WEBSITE MANAGEMENT (20%) Updates CAHSS web site by changing out imagery, news, and events. Writes brief stories for the CAHSS news section. Is a resource for CAHSS departments and centers as they perform day-to-day web activities. Approves LiveWhale event submissions from CAHSS departments with attention to consistency. SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT (20%) Helps plan and post content to CAHSS social media accounts. Serves as the primary community manager for CAHSS accounts. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (5%) If needed, obtains training to meet preferred qualifications. Stays up to date with latest trends, developments, and best practices in social media, Adobe Creative Cloud products, Drupal web content management, and all areas relevant to the role. OTHER TASKS AS ASSIGNED (5%) Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least 4 years Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in higher education and/or the fine arts. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite products including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Able to work within the parameters of an existing brand. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Has availability for event photography on evenings and weekends. Thrives in a highly collaborative environment. Previous experience working with web content management systems. Experience maintaining social media accounts for organizations or institutions. Proficiency with camera equipment and video and photo editing software.
