This position requires the ability to work independently, to handle materials (such as exams) with discretion and to reliably follow through with assignments. Typical duties include: Receptionist: answer phone; greet and assist students, faculty and visitors; monitor departmental email General office duties: copy; scan; prepare documents using computer software; file, run errands sort and distribute mail; maintain display cases & bulletin boards Office & Equipment Maintenance: keep office area clean and organized; check and refill paper, staples, and supplies in copiers and printers; empty shredders; clear paper jams; call in service requests; stock and organize general office supplies Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications Must be a registered student of UMD and maintain the minimum number of UM required credits Experience with standard office equipment Grammar, punctuation, spelling and basic computer / typing skills. Preferred Qualifications Work-study eligible Receptionist experience Expertise with Microsoft Office programs Website maintenance and software experience Reliable and responsible Detail-oriented Ability to manage time and prioritize projects Proficiency in various computer programs (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Drupal) How To Apply Student positions are a form of financial support while pursuing an education at the University of Minnesota.
