General Summary
The Equipment Operator for Paving operates and maintains various pieces of equipment. This position may perform other duties on the crew as needed. This position receives close supervision related to specific work activities, assignments, methods, etc.; usually receives frequent observation/inspection over job activities; instructions are detailed and assignments are typically short-term. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks assigned. Normal work hours are day or night shift eight (8) to fourteen (14) hours Monday through Friday. Weekend work may be required depending on the contract. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) as required. This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and task to be performed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The equipment operator for paving operates and maintains various pieces of equipment.
Safely Operates equipment such as: Screed, roller, asphalt paver, broom tractor or asphalt distributer.
This position may perform other duties on the crew as needed.
The operator is responsible for pre and post checks, daily maintenance, and keeping the equipment clean and ready for daily operation.
Complete written report of problems or necessary repairs and forward to maintenance personnel. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
Required Skills
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred, but not required.
Required Experiences
- EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of related experience and/or training. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
