Job Overview

The Senior Facilities Technician will oversee day-to-day activities related to maintenance for the Durham, NC site by internal staff and contracted vendors. This position will require experience working in a laboratory setting.

This facility operates systems within tightly controlled specifications and a successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs upon a wide variety of equipment and Utilities. The position also requires familiarity with emergency power generation and distribution, including uninterrupted power. Able to work independently, setting work priorities, coordinating, and communicating, completion of tasks in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Ensure work assignments and schedules meet facility, and contractual needs; plan, develop, and perform work on schedule to ensure service delivery expectations are achieved. • Identify areas of opportunity to implement process changes in a positive and effective manner. • Promote a strong safety culture and safe work environment. • Perform daily quality control inspections to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded. • Able to manage building monitoring systems. • Capable of managing installation of utilities for all new instruments and equipment. • Able to read drawings. • Understand Water Systems Maintenance and manage work for SLAs (through a contractor). • Document changes to facility systems that support cGMP operations. • Create SOPs or work plans as needed to ensure safe and efficient maintenance operations.as needed to ensure a safe and.? • Evaluate equipment conditions and provide input to projects and capital budget plans. • Participate in root cause failure analysis. • Assist vendors in the operations, maintenance, and repair of facilities systems and equipment. • Interact with Blue Mountain Asset Management system as needed to document preventative maintenance and on demand work. • Able and willing to perform routine facilities and maintenance activities as needed. • Able to work in lab environment and provide exhaust hood maintenance. • Must be able to support some weekend work and night on-call work. • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in operation and maintenance of industrial facilities equipment and systems.

  • Must be familiar with mechanical, and electrical codes as well as regulatory requirements.

Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Minimally: Associate degree in related field with 7 years facilities and safety

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field with 5 years facilities and safety experience.

    Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. May seek management direction for problems of diverse and/or complex scope .
