Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced Product Owner responsible for the Product Roadmap, Design and Delivery of core semantic markup standards used in core software platforms for content creation and content distribution.

Responsibilities:

The Product Owner shares responsibility for planning, designing, and managing the development of Content Technologies. The Product Owner is active in all phases of development, from gathering customer input and requirements through user interface design and specification writing to sprint planning, SCRUM/KANBAN management and quality assurance testing. The Product Owner has authority to exercise leadership in the design and development of specific solution features.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Track and prioritize semantic markup requests

Update and maintain the semantic markup schema and documentation

Ensure teams understand and follow semantic markup best practices

Research user needs and expectations for specific feature requirements

Work closely with architecture and engineering leads to convert feature requirements into technical solutions

Write use cases, business requirements, functional specifications, and test plans for specific feature requirements

Perform acceptance and ad-hoc functional testing

Collaborate with staff or freelance designers and team members to develop a cohesive user interface for new features

Conduct (or assist with) usability testing, user development conferences, and focus groups

Monitor and review the development of specific features including software engineering, QA, and documentation

Manage end-to-end Technology Project delivery lifecycle via Daily Scrums and regular Project delivery meetings/reporting

Drive the delivery of technology development including facilitating budget estimation, sprint planning, infrastructure and network delivery, QA and data migration, engineering release

Facilitate estimation of project timeline and effort with Technology Engineering Lead and Business Leads

Actively challenge and refine estimates based on experience and domain knowledge; additionally seeks peers reviews with external (non-project related) resources to validate estimates & delivery approach

Develop Agile sprint methodology for delivery team

Design issue tracking and resolution process

Coordinate teams to develop, build, and troubleshoot

Track requirements and development release schedules

Report to leadership on progress, roadblocks, and priorities

Communicate with multiple teams and staff on priorities, tasks, and goals

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience in educational publishing, educational technology, or instructional design

Requires a minimum of 2-3 years experience with semantic markup implementation, delivery, and maintenance

Experience with XML, JSON, XHTML, and other semantic markup standards

Familiarity with accessibility standards and semantic markup applications

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Understands team dynamics, fostering a positive team environment

Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies

Ability to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively to target audiences

Excellent customer service ethic

Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Good organizational, planning & time management skills

Excellent project management, planning and organizational skills

A track record of building, maintaining and managing strong relationships within an international business and across many different stakeholder groups

Excellent communication skills and understanding of how information should be presented to get across important issues to different groups of stakeholders

Proactive in seeking information, challenging norms and driving efficiency

Demonstrates the ability to effectively assess and resolve complex issues and problems

Accomplished team player with a desire to work hard, get along with others, and have fun
