Factory Motor Parts Category Analyst in Eagan, Minnesota

Description Supports the Category Managers in determining the right strategy for each Category in area of responsibility. Recommends product assortment in conjunction with overall corporate strategy through collection and analyzing of data. Creates comprehensive product assortments by category for all FMP locations; fulfilling/satisfying regional and customer differences in demand. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Category Analyst will have content expertise in the following areas and will be responsible for the following reporting and communication requirements as deemed appropriate by the Category Manager: Recognize and appreciate the differences in regions, sales channels, and brands relative to demand and performs the necessary analysis to be able to present recommendations accordingly. Request and expedite assortment data from vendors and combine with business intelligence systems to create assortment recommendations Performs extensive analysis with subsequent assortment recommendations. Identify and quantify best options, by part number, among multiple vendor offerings. Perform assortments by Category, following prescribed process in a thorough, accurate and timely manner. Document all assortment criteria and update the Team with weekly progress reports. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Knowledge of the automotive industry and products sold is preferred. Set up research methods and sources so as to maintain a constant awareness of assortments in conjunction with category trends and customer demand. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail in order to analyze large databases. Ability to make decisions within company guidelines and requesting approval on unique situations. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work situations and changing priorities. Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, emphasis on Access, Excel and Sequel. Perform and manage multiple tasks with stringent deadlines. Ability to perform and demonstrate Financial Management. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written. Ability to identify and resolve problems. Can relate to and work with all departments and all levels of staff within the Company. Demonstrated ability to develop effective and professional working relationships with all levels of customers. Must be a team player. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a company office building. Lifting requirements of up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis may be required. Wrist and finger manipulation due to computer work, calculating, compiling and filing. Equipment used may include but is not limited to computer, calculator, telephone, copy and fax machines.
