MISO Energy Forward Market Solutions Advisor in Eagan, Minnesota

Description

Our Forward Market Solutions Advisor will work collaboratively with a diverse team building and supporting tactical solutions to complex challenges facing forward energy markets.

This position works in collaboration with engineers, operators, analysts, and data scientists within Market Operations to develop user-interactive applications while providing capabilities for user-developed tools along with deep data analytics.

As the Forward Market Solutions Advisor, you will have the opportunity to understand and improve congestion management practices, leverage increased data visibility and predictive risk management to improve the alignment of Forward Market assumptions (topology, expected congestion, external modeling) with actual outcomes.

You will work with a team of experienced Power System professionals who collaborate and partner together on challenging complex problems. The team also uses the ability to collaborate cross-functionally as well as dive deep into data analytics for market funding. The tools and analysis developed by this team add value to MISO’s day-time and operations staff by enhancing awareness and decision making with the mission of optimizing markets, reducing risk, and delivering value.

As a Forward Market Solutions Advisor, you will have the opportunity to create a large impact on MISO’s forward markets. Here are just a few:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of departmental/divisional strategy and ensure the development of metrics that align with the achievement of long-term company strategies to meet business expectations.

  • You will be involved in improving the processes and technology to move the business forward.

  • Utilize cross-functional leadership to assist in moving processes forward as well as helping prioritize business efforts within the team and division.

In one year, you will know you’re successful if:

  • You successfully collaborated with the Forward Market Solutions team and lead cross-functional teams to drive efficient Forward Market outcomes

  • You have supported transformation and development of processes and technology improvements that move the business toward meeting Operations of the Future and MISO’s Reliability Imperative.

We are looking for hardworking professionals who have:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree (BA ,BS) or equivalent education, training or experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or closely related field

  • At least six years of related work experience

  • Previous energy industry experience

We would also prefer you have the following:

  • Master’s degree

  • Specific experience within any of the following: Powerflow analysis, production cost analysis, Python, SQL

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
