Summary THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Operations Group (OG), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Air National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Air National Guard. Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to perform aircrew duties as a flight engineer for the C-130 and/or helicopter aircraft; and to perform staff support duties. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs pre- and post -flight inspections. Performs flight engineering duties. Reviews aircraft incidents, operational hazards, and accident reports, bulletins, and directives pertinent to flying safety. Coordinates with aircraft maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of unscheduled and programmed maintenance. During all phases of aircraft operation, monitors engine and aircraft systems performance, analyzes instrument readings, and identifies abnormal indications, or component/system malfunctions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE:Experience which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 24 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience demonstrating the ability to compute and apply aircraft weight and balance and aircraft performance data. Experience demonstrating the ability to perform inspections, operate and monitor aircraft engines and systems control. Experience which has provided the candidate with the skill to recognize all abnormal and/or emergency conditions and report them to the pilot. Experience operating aerospace ground equipment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of electrical, communication, navigation, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems applying to aircraft and related systems. Knowledge of flight theory. Knowledge of minor in-flight maintenance. Knowledge of personal equipment and oxygen use. Knowledge of aircraft emergency procedures. Knowledge using and interpreting diagrams, schematics, aircraft performance charts, loading charts, technical publications and flight manuals. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/AFSC. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. Education No substitution of education for specialized experience. Additional Information Primary Change of Station (PCS) relocation expenses will NOT be paid. For M-Day/Traditional personnel who are currently receiving incentives to include Bonuses and the Student Loan Repayment Program, the following termination rule applies: Incentive Termination without Recoupment: If you accept a Military Technician (Mil Tech) Permanent position where membership in the National Guard is a condition of employment, your bonus will be terminated with no recoupment as long as you have served at least 6 months of the bonus contract following receipt of the initial bonus payment.
