Actalent Quality Engineer in East Hartford, Connecticut

Job Title: Aerospace Quality Engineer- East Hartford, CT

Job Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality both in-process and final for the assigned program or area, in accordance with customer and division quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review design drawings and changes, operation sheets, process procedures, test procedures, procurement documents, quality manuals, and inspection analyses to ensure compliance with division and customer quality requirements.

  • Support the contract review process.

  • Interpret AS9100C, ISO9001:2008, ASQR-01, and other customer, material, or process specifications.

  • Perform internal audits, with experience in AS9100 internal audits being a plus.

  • Provide quality support to the Engineering group with NPI and analysis of nonconforming parts.

  • Interact with the Customer Service Department to resolve customer issues.

  • Respond to customer CAR requests with appropriate and effective process improvements.

  • Interact with customers to resolve quality issues.

  • Support the Purchasing group with material procurement, special process, and approved supplier requirements.

  • Generate quality metrics and review quality trends to mitigate process risk and institute process improvements.

  • Measure and monitor supplier performance.

  • Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action utilizing tools such as 8D and 5 Why’s.

  • Lead and support Quality Clinic activities.

  • Maintain Quality Records as required to assure compliance with all regulations.

  • Implement new inspection tools and technology (such as CMM, vision systems, etc.).

  • Support continuous improvement projects.

  • Flow quality requirements to suppliers to prevent nonconforming products.

  • Work directly with suppliers to resolve and prevent nonconforming product issues.

  • 4+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer

  • Experience in aerospace or small metal parts

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Four-year degree (or 5 years of inspection experience) plus 2 to 3 years as a Quality Engineer or equivalent

  • Working knowledge of statistical process control

  • Working knowledge of lean principles

  • Knowledge of company quality system and contractual quality requirements, which vary from customer to customer

  • Ability to validate inspections, interpret GD&T blueprints, and perform shop math (including trigonometry)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office

  • Effective human relations skills to motivate others and convince them of the validity of solutions to problems

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00

This is a fully onsite position in East Hartford,CT.
