Position Summary: As a Business Continuity Intern, individual will spend several weeks in a training program consisting of both classroom based and on-the-job trainings. Topics include member service, MSUFCU culture and philosophies, product knowledge, career development, computer systems, and compliance. This is a learning position which performs a variety of functions specific to the department that corresponds with the intern's field of study. This individual will be assigned a department specific project to complete during their time as a Business Continuity Intern. Business Continuity Interns will have the opportunity to meet with management and leadership to learn about the corporate culture while gaining hands-on business experience. Work Location:Hybrid; Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MI Work Schedule: Part-Time 15-25/week; Hours will be scheduled based on student's school schedule and business hours (8:30AM - 5:00PM Monday-Friday) Occasional assignments to work during evenings and weekends if urgent need. Paid Hourly Internship: $16/hour+ Duration: Fall Semester with potential to continue into future semesters (preferred) Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support ongoing maintenance (in coordination with individual business units) of business continuity plans consistent with Business Continuity Program standards; help obtain plan approval and assist in distribution plans to leadership. Become familiar with enterprise business continuity management tools. Monitor business units regarding following established policies and procedures related to the Business Continuity Program and ensures business units receive responses to inquires related to business continuity, as necessary. Observe business continuity/resiliency and tabletop exercises within individual business units across the Credit Union. Draft after-action reports and tracking of improvement plans based on tabletop exercises. Support in the development of training to staff members in all functional areas in regard to recovery procedures and recovery plan content. Participate in training activities within your department or branch and with the learning and talent development department; such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws. Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned. Intern Learning Objectives and Opportunities: Learn the value of business continuity management to an organization. Gain an understanding of the Credit Union business and its functions by working on various stages of risk and crisis management with various business units. Identify and prioritize critical business functions and processes, their priorities, and interdependencies. Assess organizational risk including threat, vulnerabilities, and consequences. Use tabletop exercises and scenarios to analyze impacts to critical business functions and processes resulting for disruptions and disaster and identify techniques that can be effectively developed for these scenarios. Gain a broad understanding of Business Continuity Management frameworks and regulations that the Credit Union works under such as NCUA and FFIEC guidance. Learn the importance of robust documentation and testing of intended plans Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: High school diploma or equivalent required Actively pursuing degree (Associate, Bachelor, or Master's degree) in emergency management, enterprise risk, communications, or business related field of study.
