Position Summary

The Associate Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life is the number two position in the Fraternity and Sorority Life office and is responsible for supporting the Director in promoting the success of a fraternal community comprised of over 5,000 members across 55 chapters; provides strategic vision, leadership, support, and training to promote a culture of inclusiveness, excellence and the ideals of scholarship, service, leadership, and personal accountability; hires, trains, schedules, and supervises at least two full time positions and student staff to foster a productive work environment, a culture of personal and professional excellence, and working relationships based on inclusiveness and mutual respect in which individuals can be supported and grow; maintains hiring documentation, complete ePARs, and submits payroll in accordance with established procedures; supports the Director in providing administrative leadership for day to day operations of the Fraternity and Sorority community in fostering values-based organizations, providing members the ideal fraternal experience, and contributing to the MSU community; oversees recruitment, new member education, expansion/extension and chartering of processes in accordance with university, international headquarters, and NPC/IFC guidelines; assists advisors the governing councils with officer, advisor, and leadership development, developing and implementing programs and events that provide meaningful recognition of individual and chapter achievement; creates and implements educational, developmental, risk prevention and management programs; assists councils and chapters with achieving philanthropic goals, engaging in community service, and building connections with local community; advises the community on university and national policies; develops and implements strategies in addressing unrecognized organizations; develops effective working relationships with key stakeholders such as advisors, IHQ representatives, campus partners, and community members; provides support to the Office of Student Support and Accountability as they manage the student organization accountability process; maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that relate to the department and position; coordinates and participates in an on-call rotation that typically responds to emergency situations; works with the Director to develop and implement ongoing assessment efforts to measure attainment of objectives and program improvement to inform resource allocation, program improvement, and marketing processes; utilizes various marketing mediums and strategies, specifically the Be Involved platform, to disseminate information related to Fraternity and Sorority Life and associated programs and resources; maintains the Fraternity and Sorority Life website and utilizes website usage analytics and other inputs in adapting website design, marketing efforts, and information dissemination; coordinates with the Director, Fiscal Manager and FSL staff to maintain all office budgets to ensure appropriate and effective use of available resources, and assist in the annual budget development process; develops and maintains collaborative relationships across Student Life and Engagement, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), Residence Life, Student Support and Accountability, Public Safety and other stakeholders where such relationships would promote efficiency/effectiveness in fulfilling the Fraternity and Sorority Life work; serves on department and university committees as assigned; engages in professional development opportunities, attends Student Life professional development training, and participates in staff retreats and other job-related training specific to the fraternity and sorority community. This position offers occasional hybrid flexibility.
