Position Summary

The Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University is seeking outstanding candidates for anticipated fixed-term (non-tenure stream) faculty positions in the elementary and secondary teacher preparation programs. These positions will be on a part-time to full-time basis (one-year appointment, with possibility of renewal). Primary responsibilities will be at the East Lansing campus, but may include occasional travel to off-campus sites in Chicago, Detroit, or Grand Rapids.

Responsibilities will include some combination of the following: teaching undergraduate or masters level courses related to elementary or secondary education in at least one area (e.g., mathematics, social studies, literacy, English, art, social foundations of education, science, world languages, TESOL, global education, reading specialist); working with teaching interns and their collaborating teachers during a year-long internship required for initial teacher certification; serving as Licensure Area Leader for the elementary or secondary programs; and, contributing to program re-certification, assessment, and accreditation.

Position rank will be at the level of Instructor or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications. Appointment will be for one-year beginning fall 2021, with possibility for reappointment. Required Degree

Doctorate -PK-12 Teaching

Minimum Requirements

Instructor- Must have master's degree or have been employed as an instructor or equivalent elsewhere. Assistant Professor-PhD

Desired Qualifications

A doctorate degree in a relevant field. Appropriate PK-12 teaching experience and relevant college-level teaching, specifically in elementary or secondary education; experience working with teaching interns and PK-12 district partners and community organizations; experience guiding masters and doctoral students in curriculum and instruction in elementary and secondary teacher education
