Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Classical Gigline responsibilities:

  • Monitor the MSU Music Classical Gigline (MSU student gig service) daily via email/phone and respond to client requests.

  • Track gig requests from intake through completion, including filling out forms, communicating with student employees, completing event contracts for on-campus clients, and submitting student payment.

  • Communicate with faculty to verify Gigline applicant eligibility.

  • Provide onboarding to new Gigline members through short training sessions and track completion.

  • Connect clients with other performance organizers in the College as appropriate, including the jazz Gigline manager and College ensembles.

  • Manage communication with faculty and venues on other external performance series as needed.

Career Education Marketing:

  • Implement physical and online marketing plan for the upcoming academic year of the College of Music career education office events, including setting deadlines and contributing to strategy discussions.

  • Meet weekly with the career education social media Intern to discuss the release, implementation, and assessment of effectiveness of marketing materials.

  • Research job/internship/grant/audition/funding/festival opportunities in music across multiple disciplines for promotion to students

  • Create a weekly flyer of featured events/offerings/resources, internal and external opportunities in music, and upcoming College of Music events.

  • Create and send a monthly newsletter advertising career programming + upcoming career events, internal and external opportunities in music, surveys, advising appointments, and other offerings.

  • Support the creation of marketing graphics for sharing on social media platforms as needed.

  • Support other marketing initiatives in the career education department, including web, digital, and physical materials.

    Desired Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer service and professional communications skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong writing skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with firm deadlines.

  • Bachelor’s degree in music, arts, general business, or related field (equivalent experience can substitute for education)

  • Experience with Canva desired.
