Position Summary
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available to conduct computational research in the laboratory of Michael Feig in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University. The Research Associate will focus on biophysical topics related to the structure, dynamics, and interactions of biological macromolecules. The research is typically conducted in collaboration with other lab members and external collaborators.
Specific topics of current interests are:
- Phase separation and aggregation of biomolecules
- Crowding effects on enzyme function
- Development of machine learning methods for generating biomolecular dynamics
- Derivation of dynamic structural ensembles from experimental data
Description of work/duties:
The position requires the development and application of advanced computational tools such as molecular dynamics simulations and novel machine learning approaches. Research findings are expected to be reported in the form of written publications as well as oral presentations within MSU and at scientific meetings. Newly developed computational tools are expected to be publicly shared via open-source platforms. Additional opportunities for professional development include participation in grant proposal writing, networking with other scientists within and outside MSU. The Research Associate should communicate effectively with other lab members and collaborators and there is a possibility to practice mentoring skills when working with junior colleagues.

Doctorate -See qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Computational Science, or related field
- Research experience using computational techniques
- Record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Evidence of working independently as well as in a team environment
Computer programming skills

- Experience with python programming
- Experience with using Linux environments
- Experience with collaborations between computational and experimental researchers
