Position Summary

Our Unit:

Undergraduate Education (UE) is a unit with the MSU Provost's Office under the leadership of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of Undergraduate Studies. UE seeks to advance student success and learning for all undergraduate students through direct programming, policy development, research, and collaboration.

Undergraduate Studies (UGS) resides in the curricular division of UE and provides leadership and professional development related to first- and second-year seminars. In addition, this team supports broad-based campus curricular reform, review, and assessment; undergraduate certificates; academic student success workshops, specialized programming, and associated policy development.

Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Experiential Learning, the Global Programs Coordinator will provide support for off-campus and globally based UGS courses in terms of course administration, instructor recruitment and development, and course assessment. In addition, they will assist the unit with administration and implementation of various specialized programs, such as undergraduate certificates, the Spartan Early-Start Program, and Global Tech Experience.

Successful candidates should have a background in education abroad programming, first year seminar administration, teaching and learning, and assessment, as well as evidence of a commitment to global education and diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

Primary Duties:

Teaching (15%)

  • Teach/co-teach UGS course (UGS 110, 102, or 103) one per year; coordinate sections of UGS 105 in collaboration with other UGS instructors and manage the re-entry sessions for all UGS 105 participants;

Curriculum Development (75%)

  • Coordinate administration for UGS 102, 103, and 105, including assistance with:
    1. Student recruitment and outreach,
    2. Course scheduling and administration,
    3. Instructor recruitment and preparation, and
    4. Course assessment and instructional evaluation.
  • Support the administration of specialized programming with the unit, including the Spartan Early-Start Program, Global Tech Experience, and Digital Futures efforts.
  • Support the implementation and assessment of academic student success workshops.

Other (10%)

  • Manage budget line items related to duties,
  • Attend relevant meetings with the curriculum team as well as within Undergraduate Education, including All Undergraduate Education and relevant committee meetings such as those related to Education Abroad, international students, and campus inclusion,
  • Support the Director on committees and projects related to MSU experiential learning,
  • Other duties as assigned and aligned with this description.

Position can work up to 20% time remote for the 2025 -- 2026, academic year but will be expected to attend in-person staff meetings, professional development, and other committee work. This situation is subject to change in university and/or unit policy.
