Joni and Friends Nurse Coordinator in East St. Louis, Illinois

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Director, Joni’s House, support the overall objectives of Joni’s House – East St. Louis and Joni and Friends as a whole. Perform duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to:

 

  • Coordination & Staffing

  • Coordinate with the nursing agency to schedule nurses to cover all necessary shifts, ensuring adequate staffing at all times

  • Ensure all agency nurses are properly onboarded and trained in the facility’s policies, procedures, and special needs care protocols

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the facility and the nursing agency, addressing staffing needs, performance issues, and administrative concerns

  • Be prepared to resolve any staffing shortages or emergencies that may arise, including coordinating with the agency for last-minute replacements or extra support

  • Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all nursing staff comply with healthcare regulations, including medication administration, documentation, and infection control protocols

  • Monitor the performance of agency nurses, providing feedback and conducting evaluations in collaboration with the agency. Address any performance concerns or disciplinary issues as needed

  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to clients with special needs. Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify adherence to health and safety standards

  • Review and ensure adherence to individualized care plans for each client, particularly in terms of medical and health-related support

  • Health Education & Services

  • Monitor and implement infection control protocols to maintain a healthy environment for all clients and staff, preventing the spread of illness

  • Ensure that staff, volunteers and caregivers are provided appropriate health-related training, including infection control and proper hygiene

  • Administrative Duties

  • Ensure the accurate completion of all nursing-related documentation, including medication logs, incident reports, and health assessments. Ensure that agency nurses maintain up-to-date and accurate medical records

  • Partner with the Director, Joni’s House to manage the budget for nursing services, ensuring cost-effective staffing solutions without compromising quality of care

  • Ensure that all nursing practices, staffing arrangements, and documentation meet the regulatory requirements for healthcare and childcare facilities, especially those serving individuals with special needs

  • Serve as the main point of contact for families regarding nursing services. Ensure that families are well-informed about their loved one’s health needs and the care provided by the agency nurses

  • Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to support department and organizational needs

    Qualifications:

  • Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith

  • Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry

  • Associate Degree required, Bachelor Degree preferred

  • Proven ability to lead and manage nursing staff, particularly in a healthcare or special needs environment

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle scheduling, documentation, and performance monitoring for multiple nurses

  • Ability to quickly assess situations and resolve issues, particularly in areas related to staffing, compliance, and patient care

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex medical information to families and staff

  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially in maintaining records and ensuring regulatory compliance

  • Displaying a deep sense of empathy and patience when working with children and individuals with special needs

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities and tasks.

  • Able to occasionally assist in physically demanding tasks if needed, such as helping clients with mobility.

  • Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable

     

    This is a part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week. Compensation is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour.
