ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an established Facilities Engineer who can manage and oversee the projects associated with a large campus, multiple buildings, and utility infrastructure on the Syracuse, NY site. You will manage and lead the facility Engineering function, providing strategic direction, leadership, and technical support for campus projects and ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and Carrier EH&S related requirements. You will ensure seamless completion of projects for the site, which includes multiple Engineering R&D laboratories, warehouses, and office buildings.

This position will require a highly energetic, self-driven, and dedicated Engineering professional. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to excel in a matrix environment, while working in a fast-paced team-based work environment is critical.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and build partnerships at the site across all levels of the organization to complete projects that meet our strategic action plans.

  • Maintain an understanding and knowledge of all types of construction projects, and the legal, OSHA, and Carrier EH&S requirements.

  • Complete documents and provide guidance to all external contractors to ensure adherence to company EH&S procedures and standard practices.

  • Work on cross-functional projects that interface with campus Engineering groups, external to and within the core Facilities and EH&S team.

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the Office Services staff to meet changing office environment projects.

  • Plan and execute unplanned campus emergency projects associated with buildings and utilities.

  • Provide legal signature for Engineering documents for Carrier, local, federal, and state agencies.

  • Conduct audits; ensure compliance with Carrier policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain campus facility CAD drawings and ensure any changes to the campus grounds, buildings, and utility services are properly documented.

  • Interface with local planning boards, government officials, and regulatory agencies.

  • Provide timely information and guidance to the site leadership team, maintenance organization, and site EH&S council.

  • Drive site facility projects to meet and exceed aggressive timelines.

  • Determine and implement Carrier environmental sustainability initiatives to minimize water use, greenhouse gas generation, hazardous waste generation, and increase recycling of campus materials.

  • Periodically consult with site EH&S manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or Utility infrastructure

  • 7+ years’ experience in overseeing building, general construction, and utility infrastructure projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated management skills that support Engineering, Facilities, and EH&S projects.

  • Demonstrated understanding of standard Engineering practices, methods, and metrics.

  • Strength in local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.

  • Recognized experience and knowledge of Environmental, Safety, and Health regulations

  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and project management skills.

  • Experience in manufacturing/warehouse or research and development setting.

  • Strong knowledge, understanding and compliance with EH&S regulations, standard concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Experience in leading a team, as well as proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to interact within cross functional teams, senior management; contractors, and external agencies.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Superior follow-up and follow-through skillsProficient in using MS Office, CAD, Outlook, Windows Operating System Internet explorer and web applications.

Pay Range:

$90,263 - $157,959 Annually
