Aerotek CNC Mill Machinist in Eastlake, Ohio

2nd Shift CNC Mill Machinist | 22/hr to 28/hr

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over three years of CNC mill experience and will be adept at using Makino Horizontal machines with Fanuc Controls. This position involves setting up and operating numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal workpieces to exact specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal workpieces to specifications.

  • Review setup sheets and specifications to determine the setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished workpieces.

  • Attach fixtures to machine beds and position and secure workpieces in fixtures using clamps, bolts, hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments such as rules and calipers.

  • Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine spindles as specified, using hand tools, or insert cutting tools in specified machine magazines.

  • Load control media, such as disks, tapes, or punch cards, into machine control consoles or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from databases.

  • Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tools to specified set points and start machines.

  • Observe and listen to machine operations to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.

  • Change cutting tools and the location of workpieces during the machining process as specified in setup instructions.

  • Measure workpieces for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.

  • Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or when machines malfunction.

  • Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of CNC mill experience.

  • Experience with Makino Horizontal machines.

  • Experience with Fanuc Controls.

  • Understanding of G&M coding.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Utilize manual inspection instruments to check parts (mics, cals, gauges, depth gauges).

  • Experience with CNC machining.

  • Proficiency in using hand tools and blueprints.

  • Knowledge of live tooling and 4-axis CNC machines.

Work Environment

Our current openings are for the 2nd shift, which operates from 4:30 pm to 1:00 am. Although overtime is not required, it is encouraged, with the possibility of 5-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays (Sundays are paid at double time). This is a mix of job shop and production machining center work, with runs ranging from 20 to 70 pieces, and occasionally 300+ piece orders. The parts are very complex and need to be within very close tolerances. The dress code includes steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and a team uniform, which we provide.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eastlake, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00
