DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Health Care Nurse Surveyor in the Division of Acute and Ambulatory Care, you will support the department's mission of protecting the public health by conducting health care surveys in various facilities to determine compliance with federal and state regulations. Additional types of surveys include complaint and incident investigations, occupancy inspections, and revisits to confirm that the facility has followed their plan of correction to eliminate an identified problem. Inspections are completed over a 5-county area and at times, travel outside that territory is necessary.

This position requires some irregular work hours to evaluate the facility's policies and practices. Frequent travel within Northampton, Lehigh, Bucks and Montgomery County is a requirement of this position. You will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to complaints during off-hours. Statewide travel, overnight travel and flexible work hours are required in order to accommodate state and federal mandates.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. You will spend an average of 3 to 4 days in the field each week. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, when not onsite at a facility. Frequent travel within the coverage area is required, as not all tasks may be completed from a remote location. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Easton. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
