Clinical Excellence is charged with effectively implementing, monitoring, and executing on programs related to driving affordability, clinical quality and risk adjustment activities across all lines of business for OptumCare a $9 billion a year organization, touching over 9 million patients, 80 payers, and 22,000 providers. This position will report to the Director Program Management and will be responsible for driving business and data process initiatives to complement the Compliance and Quality Assurance programs across Optum Clinical Excellence, including support for Clinical Documentation Review program.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support Clinical Excellence Quality Assurance programs in the following capacities:

  • Collaborate in a cross‐matrixed environment with business partners to collect and document business requirements, translating into technical requirements to be used for development

  • Track and manage project workload from initial requirements gathering, through to delivery and production rollout of development efforts, including UAT signoff and closeout documentation (SOPs, Job Aids, etc.)

  • Identify, document, and assist in design/build of small‐scale end‐to‐end business processes aimed toward increasing efficiencies

  • Communicate and provide report outs to key stakeholders, informing of progress/status updates, issues/delays, and targeted timelines for delivery

  • Assists in the management, tracking, and documentation of SharePoint sites, Power Platform apps, and SQL data flows created to support key initiatives

  • Technical writing support and content management creating job aids, process and data flow diagrams, and policy and procedure documentation

  • Self‐motivated, working with minimal guidance, seeking assistance on only the most complex tasks

  • Think through challenges analytically and logically to derive solutions, connecting the dots in determining how processes and data are connected

  • Must have proven skills to effectively communicate and present

  • Must be a self‐starter, a fast learner, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience writing technical requirements including business requirements documents, solution / business process diagrams, job aids and SOPs

  • 5+ years of experience managing project workload(s) within a healthcare setting, from project inception, through to project close‐out

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Power BI and/or SSRS

  • Familiarity with SQL environments including relational database structures, SSIS package automation, and basic query knowledge (for purposes of requirements gathering/building)

  • Possess enhanced communication skills; experience interacting with and presenting to all levels of business; including SMEs, project sponsors and senior level leadership

  • Ability to articulate business needs into technical requirements, as well as complex technical issues to non‐technical audiences in an easily understood fashion

  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders/resources to move projects and programs forward and overcome any challenges

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of ICD‐10 CM coding and/or clinical documentation improvement programs, and associated data

  • Basic understanding of healthcare data concepts including Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment concepts

  • Familiarity with Rally and/or JIRA ticketing software

  • General understanding of security concepts including MS/Azure global groups (MS Active Directory, Azure Cloud / SharePoint security)

  • Advanced PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
