C.H. Robinson Tax Manager - Indirect Tax in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

C.H. Robinson is looking for an experienced Tax Manager - Indirect Tax to join our team. In this role, you will oversee indirect tax compliance and advisory activities across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to Value-Added Tax (VAT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), sales tax, and other indirect tax regulations. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in optimizing the company’s indirect tax position while applying your expertise in international tax laws. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide guidance to local finance and tax teams on indirect tax compliance and risk mitigation strategies

  • Manage global indirect tax audits and refund claims

  • Prepare and file Canadian Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) returns

  • Develop and oversee processes for maintaining indirect tax documentation, including W9, W8 forms, and exemption certificates

  • Stay updated on tax law and regulation changes, conducting research to ensure compliance and uncover potential tax savings opportunities

  • Identify and implement process improvements within the tax function to enhance efficiency and accuracy

  • Collaborate with Legal, Accounting, and Treasury teams to support business operations and customer needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in corporate taxation or public accounting

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations

Preferred:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

  • Experience with indirect taxes, including U.S. sales and use tax, VAT, GST, and HST

  • Proven ability to respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities

  • Background with a national or large regional accounting firm

  • Familiarity with OneSource Income Tax software

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
