SciTech Services, Inc. (SciTech) is seeking a Clinical Veterinarian experienced in biomedical research to ensure the health and well-being of various research animals. The Clinical Veterinarian will provide Animal Husbandry and Research Support Services and management of all phases of health care.

Duties include but are not limited to

:

  • Experience caring for various animal species including but not limited to Non-Human Primates (NHP), rodents, rabbits, swine/mini-swine, ferrets, and guinea pigs.
  • Provide veterinary, surgical, anesthesia, clinical care, and preventive medicine support.
  • Serve as technical expert and advise on facility protocol development.
  • Assist in professional development training for staff to include veterinary diagnostics, techniques, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Give health care guidance for veterinary services personnel.
  • Ensure reports, data, and case materials are prepared and submitted as required.
  • Participate in responses to internal and external veterinary or animal welfare inspections and quality assurance audits.
  • Support Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) activities, protocol review, program review, and facility inspections.
  • Develop write, review, and update veterinary care or necropsy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee facility compliance of all applicable regulations, guidelines and standards related to animal care.
  • Recommend and assist in establishing or enhancing animal care standards. :::

Job Requirements

::: {#jobdetailsatsrequisitionrequirements} - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), completion of Laboratory Animal Residency program, and be Diplomate, American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DACLAM) eligible at time of award. - Animal biomedical research experience required. - Knowledge of Federal, state, and National Institutes of Health (NIH) regulations and policies to ensure regulatory compliance and AAALAC accreditation. - Experience with providing training related to animal care operations. - Understanding of IACUC functions related to protocol development and review, periodic monitoring assessments, and medical interpretation of clinical data. - Expertise with regulatory requirements for animal medical record keeping. - Experience in animal health surveillance, and quality assurance procedures related to monitoring and interpretation of animal health, and environmental results. - Familiarity with GLP principles.
